An elderly couple married sixty years have revealed their rather strange anniversary custom.
Ann and Ken Fredericks, from Florida, keep the cake in plastic wrap inside a coffee can, according to Florida Today.
On their 60th wedding anniversary they revealed their unusual custom of biting into the wedding cake every single year.
Ann (81) told the TV station that their children were "appalled" at the couple's tradition, as the remains are not housed in the fridge but kept in the can at room temperature.
“Believe me, it’s quite tasty, as long as it’s got enough brandy on it. And it’s never made us sick", she laughed.
Speaking to ABC News she added, "it is a little dry".
A spokesperson from a food safety chat service sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services told the Huffington Post that they "wouldn't recommend any food that old".
Ann and Ken met at University in New York and moved to Florida in 1968.
