The awkward moment a man realises he's reading adult Harry Potter fan fiction and not Harry Potter
A man who thought he was reading JK Rowling's Harry Potter series was reading something else entirely...
Chris Chappell was reading Order of the Phoenix, or so he thought, until he started discussing plot points with his pal Shelley Zhang.
The version he was reading featured Dudley (Harry's cousin) jumping off his school building while under the Imperious Curse, Harry and Hermione have hot sex, and Draco and Ginny faking a rape scene.
He didn't think this was unusual. After all, he had heard the books get darker and more mature as they went on. Not THAT much darker and mature though, Chris!

Speaking to Mashable, Zhang said, "Over the last few weeks, we'd occasionally discuss Harry Potter and nothing he said seemed off.
"But I also didn't want to spoil things for him since he somehow had remained unspoiled all these years, so we wouldn't really talk about plot points."
I had to burst his bubble about Ginny and Draco, unfortunately. pic.twitter.com/DKKdC5jdA4— Shelley Zhang (@shelzhang) July 10, 2017
"When he started asking me about all of the 'intimate moments' and about Hermione sending Harry a picture of herself in a bikini, I lost it," she said. "I was laughing so hard I started shaking."
Chris had read the first four legitimate Harry Potter books so it's rather surprising he didn't notice the monstrous leap in tone!
