Suspected WWII bomb found to be giant courgette
A worried pensioner called police when he thought he had found a second world war bomb in his garden. However it turned out to be a large zucchini.
The 81-year-old man found the vegetable masquerading as a bomb on Thursday morning in Bretten near the city of Karlsruhe in Germany.
It seems the police understood the man's concern as "the object, which really did look very like a bomb".
Unexploded bombs are often found in Germany, and require the area to be evacuated while they are defused so the man was simply being careful.
The zucchini was nearly 16 inches in length, dark, and weighed 11lbs and police suspected it had been thrown into the garden by someone else.
