‘I am NOT a retail store’ – The 'real' John Lewis had an eventful day on Twitter
It would appear John Lewis did nothing only tweet today
Watching the John Lewis Christmas advert and voicing your views about it on social media is somewhat of a rite of passage for most people.
For the 'real' John Lewis, it's a day of being confused for a retail store on social media.
A number of tweeters took it upon themselves to warn Mr Lewis about the inevitable barrage of messages, and he decided to join in on the fun.
According to his Twitter biography, he's a computer science educator based in Virginia, America, and not, in fact, a retail store.
From calling one woman a Grinch,to sarcastically accepting the plaudits for the new advert, the American will probably end up changing his Twitter handle before next November.
I want to thank everyone for the hundreds of tweets warning me that I was about to get hundreds of tweets. They're here. @johnlewisretail— John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 10, 2016
I'm glad the @johnlewisretail ad was happy this year (even bouncy, you could say). I've desperately needed a smile since yesterday.— John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 10, 2016
I've accomplished absolutely nothing so far today.— John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 10, 2016
