Hozier has thanked the fan who stripped to his underpants and gave the singer his dungarees at his charity gig last week.

Liam Grant, who attended the gig at D-Lite Studios in Dublin in aid of Amnesty International, brought his own home-made 'Hozier is my Brozier' sign which prompted a chat with the star during his set.

When he complimented Liam on his dungarees and said he had difficulty finding some of his own Liam said, “You can have them”, stripped and passed them through the crowd to Hozier who said, “Excuse me if I forget the words to this next one” before launching into his smash hit ‘Take Me to Church’.

A delighted Liam took to Instagram after the show to share a pic of himself with Hozier and his sign.

"So last night was wild!  I ended up giving @Hozier a pair of my dungarees mid gig," he wrote.

Hozier shared Independent.ie's headline from the following morning on Twitter, "Hozier complimented a guy's dungarees at his charity gig last night - and the guy stripped and handed them over" with the comment, "I will use these powers, for evil".

He then tweeted: "The guy in question was a chap called Liam, banter merchant. He wouldn't take them back, left the rainy northside venue in the jock. Legend."

On the night Hozier performed to a crowd of just 100 lucky guests, selected from over 5,000 applicants, for Amnesty International’s Give a Home concert series in association with Sofar Sounds.
