A quick hashtag substitution stopped National Slowdown Day from crashing at the get go.
Gardaí had to act fast to ensure the social media campaign didn't quickly turn into a joke.
National Slowdown Day is taking place between 7am this morning and 7am tomorrow.
Gardaí are carrying out a massive amount of speed checks on roads around the country in an effort to get motorists the slow down.
There's even a big Twitter campaign with Gardaí encouraging drivers to tweet pictures of themselves supporting the day under the hashtag #ThumbsUp.
But yesterday a different hashtag was being used by Gardaí to promote the day. The original hashtag sent out was to be #STUD, but Gardaí quickly realised this wouldn't suit.
It seems that particular hashtag is already used quite frequently on Twitter with users posting it with pictures of themselves in... err... compromising positions let's say.
Luckily some sharp young Garda caught on before it was too late and swerved to avoid disaster with the #ThumbsUP substitute.
