Hollywood star Dennis Quaid has apologised to Saoirse Ronan for mispronouncing her name as 'Sheesha' during the announcement of the 2016 Golden Globe nominees.
Quaid (63) was lambasted on social media for 'butchering' the Irish actress's name as he revealed the Best Actress nominations in December 2015.
However, on Wednesday morning he got the opportunity to make amends.
Speaking to Ian Dempsey on Today FM, the actor simply said, "I apologise!" after he revealed his family are actually from Limerick.
"It's alright. We've dined out on it over here!" laughed Dempsey.
Quaid was on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show to talk about his new family film A Dog's Purpose, which opens in Ireland on Friday.
He also revealed his band The Sharks are touring in support of ZZ Top next month and one of his favourite songs to play is Van Morrison's Gloria.
