WATCH: Unlikely BFFs - Baby deer and Burmese mountain dog bond in back garden

Sarah-Jane Murphy

Sometimes the most unlikely friendships are the most precious.

A man who lives near Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming took pity on a baby deer who was limping, and took her home to protect her from hungry predators.

Darius Sa, a self-confessed animal lover, often encounters wildlife from the park wandering around his garden.

He told Buzzfeed news that when a doe gives birth to twins, as in this case, only one survives so he felt the young fawn needed some TLC.

But while he gave the newest member of the household a warm welcome, some of his pets were less enthused by the deer's presence.

However as time passed all Sa's animals bonded with the adorable fawn, and Mack, the Burmese mountain dog even helped to feed her.

After a few weeks Sa succeeded in reuniting the young animal with her mother in Yellowstone National Park.

We just hope that Mack is remembering to keep in touch!
