Animal welfare charity PAWS are asking for people to take a 'Santa PAWS selfie'' and donate to the charity, in the latest charitable social media campaign.

They're asking fans to take a photo of your four-legged friends "in Christmas mode" and email the picture to pawsanimalrescue@eircom.net for their chance to win a prize on Christmas Eve. They're asking that anyone who participates donates €5 and you can do so via Paypal at www.paws.ie/donate.

The top three pictures, as selected by PAWS, will be revealed on Christmas eve and the lucky three will secure a surprise prize.

All photos entered will be published on the PAWS Facebook page on Christmas Eve.

PAWS said that "all proceeds go to helping the 100+ dogs in our care".

A number of animal welfare charities are looking for help in the run -up to the Christmas period. Many are anticipating an influx of unwanted animals in the new year, and are asking people not to gift an animal to a loved one this Christmas.

Hi Friends. Time for the Santa PAWS Selfie Competition. Take a photo of your 4 legged friends in Christmas mode. Donate...
