Bar owner from Offaly doesn't recognise baby-faced Justin Bieber, asks him for ID
The owner of a New York bar, who is originally from Offaly, didn't recognise Justin Bieber when the popstar popped in for a drink.
The 23-year-old star, who just wowed the world with an emotional performance at One Love Manchester, visited the Gramercy Ale House in New York in May.
And owner Trevor Kelly wasn't about to serve the baby-faced young man without asking for his ID.
"He came up and asked for a bottle of Corona and I asked him for his ID," Trevor told the Tullamore Tribune.
"He has a bad reputation but I found him to be nice and mannerly."
Bieber duly showed Trevor his photo ID before taking his drink and joining a female companion. Trevor also revealed he drank a pint of Guinness bought for him by another customer but left as more people began to realise who he was.
"The bar gets a lot of customer involved in sports," said Trevor, who moved to New York in 2002 and has been running the bar for the past three years.
"We have done Saturday Night Live after-parties and often get celebrity guests including Jimmy Fallon, Fred Savage, David Spade, Harrison Ford and Kate Winslet," he said.
