Bairbre Power: Out and about
Our resident diarist calls into the best parties and events around the country
Food and shaving don't usually go hand in hand, but they blended beautifully at the launch of Marram Co - the luxury Irish line of men's grooming tools and all- natural shaving creams, formulated for different moods.
The new brand has been compared to a Crème de la Mer-style range for guys. Fittingly - as the products include aromatic plants such as lemongrass, ginger, carrot seed, peppermint, cinnamon and clove - the menu at Roberta's restaurant, on Dublin's East Essex Street, reflected the yummy ingredients in the shaving creams. Among the guests were businessmen Brett Desmond (above, left) and new dad Damien O'Donohoe of sports and talent ageny Ikon, with Shelly Corkery (centre), the fashion director of Brown Thomas, which stocks Marram Co in the glamorous new Marvel Room.
Husband-and-wife team Jude and James Jarvis are behind the brand, which started in 2015 with the big realisation that grooming as a trend was growing at exponential rates - yet most men hate shaving. For Christmas, Marram Co have created a Taster Collection of four creams, while their Ho Ho Ho shaving cream contains seasonal frankincense and clove essential oils to heighten that Christmassy feeling!
Speaking of Christmas, we were transported to a Santa's cave of great food and cute gifts when Lidl rolled out their Christmas offering. (4) JP Scally (above, left), MD of the supermarket chain in Ireland, mingled with the guests while senior communications manager Claire Moran (right) revealed the latest fashion pieces from Heidi Klum. My favourite bit was the whole leg of jamón ibérico, which means I'll be happily slicing slivers all Christmas for my guests. Someone else can cook the turkey. Hint hint!
Fashion designer Sonya Lennon and her son, Finn Smith, were among the guests at Wild Lights - a magical night-time event at Dublin Zoo featuring giant colourful lanterns and animal sculptures inspired by wildlife.
Guests drawn from the worlds of sport, comedy, literature, music, business and public life gathered for the Irish Tatler Man Men of the Year Awards 2017 at The Gibson, Dublin. There were 14 awards given out and Sarah Williams, PR Manager of Arnotts, was on hand to present the 'Style' gong to social media star and Celebrity Operation Transformation contestant James Patrice. Fresh from her Women of the Year Awards the previous weekend, broadcaster and Tatler publisher Norah Casey delivered Sean O'Rourke's Media Award, sponsored by No7.
