Arthur's Day heating up
Le Galaxie and Iggy Azalea are the latest acts to be added to the ever impressive Arthur's Day line-up next week.
Next Thursday, millions of people around the world will be toasting Arthur Guinness and the ever delicious drink he's responsible for inventing.
But while Guinness may be marking the historic occasion with the world's most impressive marketing technique, for many, it's just about the music.
Le Galaxie, fresh off headlining the Body & Soul main stage at Electric Picnic closing night will be performing at ticketed and surprise pubs around Ireland.
"We can't wait to turn up for a surprise gig somewhere in Ireland on Arthur's Day," they said.
"We learned our trade playing in small, sweaty pubs all over Ireland. There's nothing like literally getting face-to-face with the audience and feeding off their energy."
Joining the Irish electronica group is rapper Iggy Azalea.
If that's not enough to whet your appetite, The Script, James Vincent McMorrow, The Original Rudeboys, Kodaline, Ham Sandwich, Manic Street Preachers, Emeli Sandé, Janelle Monáe, Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro and the legendary Bobby Womack, will also be performing scheduled and impromptu gigs around the country.
500 different music events will be held in 32 different counties next Thursday, lasting into the night.
Azalea is just as pumped about the celebrations, saying: “Are you ready Arthur's Day?! I can’t think of a better place to play a gig than in an Irish pub. Just me, my music and a couple of hundred people in those surroundings, can’t wait!”
Ireland will join the millions of people taking part in the Arthur’s Day 2013 celebrations across Europe, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Caribbean and Australia.
