Al Porter: 'Expect a Christmas calendar like Daniel O’Donnell, but topless'
Al Porter told fans to expect a topless calendar this Christmas as the comedian begins his plans to get into shape.
The Today FM presenter (24), is taking part in an eight-week fitness and diet overhaul at the hands of Olympian Derval O'Rourke and Irish Independent fitness guru Karl Henry ahead of the SPAR Fitlive run in Dublin's Phoenix Park on July 15.
Speaking to Independent.ie, the comedian said he hopes to have buns of steel come summer and joked about his plans to release a calendar like his idol Daniel O'Donnell.
"If I get a nice gym body expect a Christmas calendar like Daniel O’Donnell, but topless," he said.
Al said although he ran a lot during his youth in Tallaght, he has grown up to live quite an unhealthy lifestyle.
"I did a lot of running in Tallaght growing up, though not voluntarily! I'm used to chasing men and running my mouth but I lead a very unfit lifestyle."
Fans of Al will be able to follow his fitness progress on Fitlive.ie from May 22, and also take part in the eight week programme themselves ahead of the Dublin race, and also the Munster leg of the series at the Cork Airport Runway 5km on November 17.
Speaking of the series, world champion Derval O’Rourke said the programme is geared towards fulfilling small achievable goals.
"The FitLive programme is perfect for those who want to improve their fitness levels, overhaul a poor diet, boost their mood or reach a specific goal over a two month period.
"From winning at the highest level in my sport, I know all too well of the importance of eating a wholesome meal. The food and recipes will fuel both your training and taste buds."
Those interested in improving their fitness and wellbeing can take part by registering on FitLive.ie. Early bird tickets for the SPAR FitLive series are also available from €15 here.
