US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin heads to Beijing this week with a view to reopening US/China trade talks, while in London the parliament votes on possible alternatives to Theresa May's defeated Brexit deal on Thursday.

Euro-area finance ministers will meet tomorrow to discuss the European Commission's economic forecast, deepening the economic and monetary union, the EU budget, and, of particular interest to Ireland, the EU's tax policy.

On Thursday, Eurostat releases flash estimates of GDP and employment for the euro area and EU. Also on Thursday Germany's gross domestic product report for the fourth quarter will provide a firmer glimpse of the health of Europe's biggest economy.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) will on Wednesday release trade figures for November, followed by inflation and house price data, due on Thursday.

Smurfit Kappa, Hibernia Reit and Tullow Oil will all announce results on Wednesday.

On Friday Allianz Insurance and RBS will release 2018 results.

The US faces a fresh risk of a partial government shut down when a stopgap government funding deal expires on Friday.
