No deal on US debt ceiling with just 10 days to avert federal default

US President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy both said they had a productive discussion over the US’s debt ceiling at the White House late Monday, but there was no agreement as negotiators strained to raise the nation's borrowing limit in time to avert a potentially chaotic federal default.
