Heathrow Airport 'still overburdened'
DESPITE the fact that London is well-served by airports, Heathrow remains one of the world's most overburdened transport hubs.
New research blames this not on the availability of routes or airlines, but on the lack of affordable transport to Gatwick, Stansted and Luton.
A study presented this week will call on the British government to improve rail links, extend the Oyster card ticketing system and cut fares to unlock spare capacity at main airports.
The research was submitted to Britain's Airports Commission.
