Canada will host leaders of its fellow G7 group of big economies at a summit in Charlevoix on Friday and Saturday, including Donald Trump, Angela Merkel, Emmanuel Macron, and the incoming Italian prime minister, in what's set to be an unusually fractious meeting after the US imposed steel tariffs on its closest allies, including Canada and the EU, last week.

While western leaders meet in Canada, leaders of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) states, including Russia's Vladimir Putin, India's Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will meet on Saturday in China's northern port city of Qingdao.

The bank holiday at home means it's a short week. May Exchequer returns tomorrow will be a good pointer in terms of the overall budget out-turn for 2018. May is the second-largest tax collection month of the year.

It's a quiet week for corporate earnings and events - Amryt (tomorrow) and GAN (Thursday) will host their annual general meetings. GAN's push into the US gaming sector has been revitalised by a court ruling that is set to liberalise the market.
