Digital centre to get further €17.5m
THE GOVERNMENT will invest a further €17.5m into the National Digital Research Centre, the organisation that helps entrepreneurs turn their ideas and research into commercial ventures. As a result a further 50 jobs have been promised by the end of the year.
NDRC provides a number of programmes to help fledgling digital businesses to develop. It provides pre-seed funding, mentoring and helps the firms attract outside private investment. Since 2008, it has helped develop businesses that employ 250 people. Its annual report showed that the market value of firms that went through its programme in 2012 has doubled compared to the year before to €39m and that figure expected to reach €91m.
