Croke Park hears of bad tactics
CROKE Park got another slating this week -- in Croke Park.
The stadium's conference centre was the venue for the 13th National Construction Conference, where the impact of departing public servants on the process of public investment was described as "horrendous".
Conference chairperson Dr Louis Gunnigan is team leader for the Grangegorman project to build a new campus for the Dublin Institute of Technology, where planning applications were submitted this month.
Dr Gunnigan lamented that a similar, bigger project in Vienna, launched at the same time, was already built and operating. "They laid 200km of Metro in Madrid, while we spent €100m talking about 18km [on Luas] in Dublin.
"Our systems are all wrong and they will have to change," the frustrated specialist in public-private partnerships said.
