Lufthansa offers wifi streaming to mobile devices
PASSENGERS flying with Lufthansa will by next year be able to stream inflight entertainment by wifi, directly to their mobile devices.
The system will provide films, TV shows, games and information to tablets, laptops and smartphones.
It is appealing to airlines because it relies on passengers' own devices, rather than requiring the installation of expensive technology.
The first routes that will enjoy it are those to North Africa, the Middle East and some areas of Russia. By next year, 20 Airbus A321s will be fitted with this IFE option, developed by Lufthansa systems and dubbed BoardConnect.
Lufthansa was recently voted Europe's Leading Airline for the third year in a row in the prestigious World Travel Awards.
