Bruton's firm to lobby for Chelsea

FORMER Taoiseach John Bruton could cross paths with Roman Abramovich's Chelsea Football Club in his new job as an adviser to Brussels-based lobbying group Cabinet DN.

The European Commission's lobbyist register shows that Chelsea is one of the firm's clients. Mr Bruton was recently appointed chairman of the EU Sports Platform -- an organisation fostering links between the European Commission and sport.

The lobbying firm also acts for Danske Bank, owner of National Irish Bank; private equity giant KKR; drug maker Sandoz; and Sky Italia.

Last month, it emerged that the Commission was reviewing Mr Bruton's appointment as IFSC czar and his job at Cabinet DN.
