White rules out changes to controversial dual funding
scrapping RTE's controversial dual-funding model is "categorically" not Government policy, a spokesman for Communications Minister Alex White has said.
The model - which allows RTÉ to raise funding both from the licence fee and from advertising - has been heavily criticised by rival media groups who see it as an unfair advantage.
Mr White previously signalled that scrapping the model could be on the table.
"I do expect and intend to continue reviewing the whole regime of funding for public service broadcasting," he said after local newspapers representative organisation called for a review of the model last week.
"I've met with the independent broadcasters. Obviously you've heard from the local newspapers. I don't have any direct responsibility for print, but we'll consider all of these issues," Mr White said.
