Topshop shrinks Irish outlets

Topshop will shed some Irish stores as leases expire, a spokeswoman for the major fashion retailer confirmed.

"We would curtail leases in small market towns in favour of more central areas," she said. The chain, where Kate Moss (above) has a clothing range, will not renew three upcoming leases due to expire over the next three years.

The brand is owned by billionaire Philip Green's Arcadia group, which saw profits drop by nearly 40 per cent in last results.

Green has said that Arcadia would look to shed 250 of its 480 outlets in the UK and Ireland across brands including Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins as leases come up for renewal.
