What's your favourite podcast? The voices behind it may be coming to new Dublin festival
Listening to podcasts have become increasingly popular on the commute to work, while out for a run, or even just as you're making the dinner.
Whether it's crime, fantasy, true life, business or comedy, it's rare that your peers don't have at least one podcast on the go at any given time.
Many listener lovers, however, only whet their appetite for digital audio series after the release of Serial, which has been downloaded over 80 million times since 2014.
Now, over a decade after Oxford English Dictionaries named 'podcast' the Word of the Year, the first ever Dublin Podcast Festival (DPF) is taking place.
Whether you loved or hated S-Town, the face behind the voice of investigative journalist Brian Reed is coming to our town for the event.
Perhaps because of the creators behind this podcast - those behind Serial and This American Life - S-Town was downloaded 10 million times in just four days.
Reed will be at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre on September 29 as part of the festival from HeadStuff & Aiken Promotions.
If you're into smutty humour, you may already have your ticket for the now sold out 'My Dad Wrote A Porno' show in Vicar Street on September 21.
Homegrown talent that will be taking part in DPF include Jarlath Regan - behind 'An Irishman Abroad' - and Cian McGarrigle and Edwin Sammon - behind comedy podcast Reviewables.
Podcast events, discussions and workshops will be taking place in various venues in Dublin City between September 19 and September 29.
All events go on sale on Monday July 31 at 9am from www.ticketmaster.ie unless otherwise indicated. More information can be found on www.dublinpodcastfestival.ie
