Web Summit: Independent.ie showcasing the newsroom in the digital age
THE movement of Independent.ie’s newsroom to Dublin’s RDS for the three days of the Web Summit showcases how media organisations continue to evolve and change to meet the opportunities of the digital age.
And as media partner to Web Summit, Independent.ie and the Irish Independent will bring all the breaking news and views from the event over the three days, starting tomorrow.
During the event, the world’s technology elite will descend on Dublin alongside over 20,000 delegates from more than 100 countries.
And names like Eva Longoria, the Desperate Housewives star who is an angel investor and super model/entrepreneur Lily Cole will rub shoulders with the likes Mark Pincus, founder of gaming giant Zynga, and Tim Webber, Oscar-winner and visual effects specialist.
Irish technology stars including the Collison Brothers will also hold court.
For the first time, a number of new mini-summits have been introduced to the event including sport and food.
Sports stars attending include Ireland rugby star Jamie Heaslip, former Director of Football with Liverpool Damien Comolli and former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
And the event is worth an estimated €100m to the local economy.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny will ring the Nasdaq opening bell from the event. “The Web Summit fittingly represents the vibrancy of the tech sector in Ireland,” he said.
