Team Ninja's Nioh will finally be released this year, and a playable demo will be released later this month with free DLC to unlock.

Team Ninja will release a playable alpha demo for Nioh on PlayStation 4 from April 26th until May 5th, and there's an incentive to play and finish it. Players who complete the demo will be rewarded with The Mark of the Conqueror DLC when Nioh is released later this year.

It's been a long time coming too; Nioh was originally announced ten years ago and Team Ninja general producer Kou Shibusawa says that the fans have continued to support the project.

"Now, finally, Nioh — a game created with the entire power of Koei Tecmo — will be released in 2016. In appreciation to all the fans who have waited so long, and in order to have gamers everywhere try Nioh as soon as possible, we will release the Alpha Demo this month. We hope you enjoy overcoming the challenges in this masocore take on samurai action - Nioh"

Nioh is set in a time of civil war in Japan. The game incorporates "classic elements such as samurai and supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore," as well as the exhilaration of an authentic samurai sword fight.

You'll be able to get a taste of this action on April 26th.
