WhatsApp is being tipped to add voicemail and call back functionality to the app in the near future, according to leaked screenshots.

You may never have to resort to using the phone function on your smartphone in the near future. A leak indicates that WhatsApp is preparing to implement voicemail and call back functionality.

Screenshots of the new-look app were posted on Phone Radar, though it hasn't shared where the details came from. Interestingly, one screenshot indicates that you'll be able to press a button to start recording a voicemail, which you'll then be able to listen back to before leaving it.

The app will also add a button for call back to make it easier to get back to someone.

WhatsApp already lets you send voice messages and typed messages, so it will be interesting to see how the voicemail feature takes off. Then again, if you're already calling someone, it'll be easier to go straight into recording a voicemail rather than having to back out or type out a message.
