WATCH: Check out the latest 'nightmare-inducing' robot from Boston Dynamics Newsdesk Newsdesk

Meet Handle, the latest robot from technology company Boston Dynamics that even strikes fear in the firm's CEO.

The company have become famous for creating amazing - if not slightly terrifying - robots that perform tasks previously only carried out by humans.

The latest member of the Boston Dynamics family, which stands at 6.5 feet tall, is capable of travelling at 9 miles per hour and has no trouble breezing over rougher terrain.

Unlike the company's previous creations, Handle stands on wheels rather than legs and is capable of leaping four feet into the air.

Boston Dynamics' Founder Mark Raibert introduced Handle to the world at a conference last month, where he admitted some people might be put off by the robot.

"This is the debut presentation of what I think will be a nightmare-inducing robot if you’re anything like me, but this is an experiment in combining wheels with legs with a very dynamic system that is balancing inside itself all the time and has a lot of knowledge of how to throw its weight around, which it uses to help stabilize itself," he told attendess.

"This is much more efficient than a legged robot; it can carry a heavy load on a small footprint and it’s basically an exercise in seeing if we can do something like the humanoid that has less degrees of freedom but eventually could be less expensive and still have significant capability."
