Marcel Hirscher took part in what could have been his most memorable slalom race, but for all the wrong reasons as he was almost taken out by a drone.

As if skiing downhill through a series of gates wasn't taxing enough, now skiers have to keep an eye out for falling drones, it seems!

Marcel Hirscher, a four-time reigning World Cup overall champion skier, was beginning his second run during a slalom race in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, which almost came to an end as soon as it began. A drone recording the race crashed and almost took him out.

Hirscher seemed unaffected by the near-miss and went on to finish second. But he wasn't too happy with what had just happened. "This is horrible," Hirscher told the Associated Press. "This can never happen again. This can be a serious injury."

You can watch the incident unfold in the video below, which also features commentary so you can hear their reaction.
