15-year-old Luke Bannister from the UK placed first in the inaugural World Drone Prix in Dubai, winning $250,000 in the process.

He piloted his drone along an outdoor track using a camera on its front to see where he was going. You can watch the final race of the event below in which Bannister pilots the drone expertly with the skyscrapers of Dubai spanning the horizon.

It’s a dizzying watch at times as the track flies by, particularly when the drone encounters tight or hairpin turns.

A total of 150 teams took part in the event, which boasted a prize pool of $1 million. More than 2,000 people turned up to watch the spectacle and witnessed the final in which Tornado X-Blades Banni-UK, led by Bannister, beat Dubai Dronetek.
