Take-Two working on 'new games from established franchises' – time for Red Dead Redemption 2?

Emma Clark

Take-Two has a number of brand new IPs and new titles from established franchises in development. Could it finally be time for a new Red Dead Redemption?

Take-Two has confirmed that it has a number of unannounced projects, including “new intellectual properties, and offerings from our established franchises” in the works.

What established franchises could Take-Two be working on? Well, it isn’t short of options. Included in Take-Two’s portfolio are the likes of Red Dead Redemption, BioShock, Grand Theft Auto, Borderlands, Max Payne, Midnight Club, and many others.

Red Dead Redemption was a smash hit when it was released in 2010, and developer Rockstar has said that getting a sequel done is just a matter of timing. Rumours have been circulating about a sequel for a while now, but that was inevitable; perhaps this is the right time.

We know that developer Gearbox Software is working on a new Borderlands title. We just don’t know when it will be released.

Meanwhile, it seems unlikely that a new Grand Theft Auto is in development already. But then again, that series’ development cycles tend to be so long that it is possible, even if the finished product won’t be out for several years.

Fans will be eager to see what Take-Two has in store. A new Red Dead Redemption would certainly be enticing and we’re looking forward to seeing what new IPs it has up its sleeves.
