Sony's rumoured Xperia X Premium is being tipped to feature the world's first HDR screen, which ups how many colours and shades it can display.

Sony is reportedly working on a smartphone, which would feature the world’s first HDR screen.

The Xperia X Premium, as it’s being referred to, will apparently be able to display 1.07 billion different colours. By comparison, current smartphones are able to display 16.8 million colours. This would mean that it could offer 1024 different shades of red, blue and green, instead of the standard 256 shades.

The handset’s display is also rumoured to offer a 120Hz refresh rate, 2000:1 contrast ratio and up to 1300 nits of brightness.

These rumours, which come courtesy of PhoneRadar’s unnamed sources, also indicate that the Xperia X Premium will feature a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p resolution, a Snapdragon 820 processor and an Adreno 530 GPU, and 3GB of RAM.

There’s no word yet as to when Sony will reveal anything about this rumoured handset.
