Smart wine bottle keeps your wine fresh for longer

Mark O'Beirne

Kuvée has developed a Wi-Fi enabled wine bottle that helps keep your wine fresh for up to 30 days. The Kuvée bottle will be released in October.

If bottles of wine tend to last in your household, the Kuvée Bottle could be one of the more useful Internet of Things devices for you. It promises to keep wine fresh for up to 30 days, so you can look forward to a glass of wine in the evening without worrying if it kept in the fridge.

The Kuvée bottle is a Wi-Fi connected wine bottle, featuring a touchscreen. It’s made up of two parts: the bottle itself and the wine cartridge that slots inside.

When you put in a new cartridge, the bottle detects what you’re drinking and displays details that you’d expect to find on a label on the touchscreen, including alcohol content, the logo, the grape, and other background information. It even estimates how much is left in the bottle. You’ll also be able to use the touchscreen to browse and buy other wines through Kuvée.

The Kuvée bottle will be available in two US states, California and Massachusetts, from October. Kuvée is targeting the States first, but may roll out its smart wine bottle further afield in the future.
