Samsung working on new camera sensor

Samsung is reportedly developing a new camera sensor for either the Galaxy Note 6 or Galaxy S8 with a smaller aperature and more megapixels.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge featured a nifty camera, but the smartphone manufacturer is reportedly hard at work on a new sensor for the Galaxy Note 6 or the Galaxy S8.

Samsung is developing a new 1/1.7-inch CMOS camera sensor, according to PhotoRumours, with an aperature of f/1.4 compared to the S7’s f/1.7. This means that it’s wider, allowing more light to get through the lens to create a better image.

The rumour also indicates that the new sensor could up the megapixel count from 12MP to as much as 24MP.

The camera is one of the big battlegrounds for smartphone manufacturers at the moment, and it looks like Samsung is about to up its game further.
