Samsung launches new social network - Waffle

Samsung has launched a social network of its own, which it calls Waffle because of its grid-like presentation, though it's currently in beta.

Samsung has launched a new social network, which it calls Waffle because of its grid-based interface.

Waffle, according to Samsung, "offers a new, differentiated service that illustrates multiple points of view to generate a collaborative story." Samsung's creative lead for the project, Joseph Kim, explains "Waffle enables users to add their own perspective to someone else's content, and vice versa."

As an example, if you post an image that you took on your birthday, friends can chime in with their own videos and photos, which is then presented in a waffle-like grid.

The Waffle app is currently available on Android, though it's in beta at the moment. If it does well and people embrace the collaborative story, we may see a proper rollout on Android and perhaps even iOS.
