Samsung Galaxy S7 may bring back microSD slot
Samsung's Galaxy S7 may feature a microSD slot, marking the return of expandable storage after it was dropped from the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
The removal of the microSD slot from the Galaxy S6 resulted in outcry, but the good news is that it looks like Samsung’s next flagship will reintroduce expandable storage.
The rumour comes courtesy of an Italian Samsung blog, but there’s no mention of where it heard this from. Perhaps it’s just hoping that this will be the case.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 came with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage with microSD support up to 128GB. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6, meanwhile, abandoned this in-built storage. It will be interesting to see if Samsung will head back to the days of microSD cards.
We’d still advise against getting too excited if you were just waiting to see Samsung backtrack on expandable storage. There’s nothing concrete about these rumours just yet. It’s still unclear when Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S7, but it’s thought that it will be released earlier in the year than its recent flagships.
