Rock Band 4 wipes leaderboard scores
Harmonix is wiping song leaderboards after finding ways that players were gaming the system and getting exploited scores.
Harmonix has found that some Rock Band 4 players are exploiting their way to the top of the leaderboards and will wipe scores to address potential score exploits.
The developer revealed that the game shipped with "a handful of gnarly bugs, including an issue where experienced drummers can double-deploy overdrive by hitting green 'Overdrive' gems at the end of dynamic drum fills." It has since identified the exploits and is working to fix the issue.
However, the leaderboard wipe is required as the improvements made will affect "almost every song, instrument, and difficulty in the game."
You will keep your high score data via local saves, and hold on to your 'song plays' stats on the player stats screen. Harmonix revealed that "as far as your song library goes, it’ll continue to display the accuracy and star count for your highest-scoring performances to date," though these will be replaced once you've played the song after the new update.
Harmonix also announced that, as a result of this update, all scores earned in the Play a Show mode will now be posted to the leaderboards.
These improvements are apparently only the beginning. Harmonix plans to roll out setlists and practice mode, along with song exports from the original game, Rock Band 2, and LEGO Rock Band.
