Reddit launches closed beta for Android app

Emma Clark

Reddit is now inviting users into the closed beta for its Android app, but the beta is limited to a couple of thousand people.

Reddit has started closed beta testing for its official Android app.

The website previously revealed that only a few thousand people will be involved in this closed beta. Little is known about the Android app, including its features or its public release date.

Reddit's statement says, "Whether you access it from your desktop, a mobile browser, or a native app, we will work to make the Reddit product more engaging. Mobile in particular continues to be a priority for us. Our new Android app is going into beta today, and our new iOS app should follow it out soon."

It's not yet known when the Android app will be available to everyone, but avid Reddit users will be hoping it's in the not-too-distant future.
