Prankster trying to sell Yahoo on Craigslist

Mark O'Beirne

A sharp-witted prankster has put Yahoo up for sale on Craigslist, though you'll have to part with $8 billion to get your hands on it.

If you happen to have a spare $8 billion lying around, and you fancy taking on a bit of a project, a prankster is willing to sell you Yahoo.

The listing might hit a bit too close to home for the current owners. "A beautiful piece in good-to-fair condition, showing some signs of wear but easily restored in the hands of the right person," it says. "Sadly, the original owners can no longer maintain it."

The Craigslist ad asks for $8 billion or best offer. This is the figure being bandied around as the most that the company could expect to fetch on the open market.

For your $8 billion, you'll get:

  • 1 billion users, more or less
  • Web email system (now 62% spam free!)
  • Bottomless archive of Kim Kardashian photos
  • Flickr & Tumblr
  • Fully equipped Nautilus gym
  • A really nice cafeteria
  • The Yahoo Weather app
  • Several warehouses filled with Kind bars
  • Katie Couric
