Mafia 3 has an epic new trailer and release date
Long awaited sequel Mafia 3 finally has a release date for later this year, and it's kicking things off with a cinematic trailer
We never really expected another entry in the Mafia series but the third game is coming and it's looking utterly spectacular.
The official Twitter feed for the game just confirmed a release date of the 7th of October 2016 on consoles and PC and also showed off an all new trailer called the One Way Road. Check it out.
Wow. Just look at the facial animation and the level of detail in both the cutscenes (which seem to use the game engine) and the moment to moment action. This is an even more cinematic vision than the series has seen before, and it also includes more stylish aspects like melee takedowns and slow motion.
New developers Hanger 13 includes folks who worked on the first two games and seem to be taking cues from mafia and revenge movies for what's on offer here. The gameplay will be open world driving and shooting with a similar feel to Grand Theft Auto but with an interesting period setting in 1968 in the city of New Bordeaux, standing in for New Orleans.
It's looking like a big and violent time, and hopefully it will be worth the wait until October.
