LG working on a new type of curved smartphone

LG is reportedly developing a smartphone with a curved display that folds over the top of the handset. We may hear more at CES in January.

LG is synonymous with flexible and bendy smartphones, but apparently it's about to change it up slightly.

The smartphone manufacturer, according to serial-leaker Evan Blass on Twitter, is working on a handset with a curved display. "But this one wraps over the top of the device," he wrote.

It sounds like this display will roll over the top, which would be an alternative approach to that taken by Samsung. The Galaxy S6 Edge's screen, of course, curves the left and right side of the screen around the phone.

LG is rarely afraid to try something new. Last year, LG released the G Flex 2, which had a slight flex in the screen and body, giving it a distinctive crescent shape.

It's unlikely that we'll hear anything from LG before the new year, but there's a chance that this mysterious device may make an appearance at CES in January.
