LG getting in on mobile payments action

LG is the latest company to launch a mobile payments system. It revealed LG Pay, which will go live in South Korea first.

LG has become the latest company to launch a mobile payment system of its own. The payment system, which is cleverly called LG Pay, will first go live in Korea.

The company didn’t release too many details about the system. LG partnered with Shinhan Card and KB Kookmin Card and the service will launch in South Korea first.

There’s no word regarding an international launch just yet. LG is keeping its cards close to its chest with a spokesperson saying that the company “will have more details in the coming weeks.” That doesn’t necessarily mean that an international launch is planned, but hopefully we’ll find out soon.

LG will face stiff competition if it does go international with Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay getting a head start in some pretty key markets.
