Avalanche Studios' forthcoming open world actioner Just Cause 3 will be receiving a rather substantial patch on launch day

As arguably the last major gaming release of the calendar year, there's likely plenty of folks out there eagerly anticipating the launch of Avalanche Studios' Just Cause 3 next week - and rightly so if the previous two installments in the open world actioner are anything to go by! Before you jump right into the carnage on launch day, however, you're going to have to sit through the now-obligatory day one patch download and installation, which weighs in at around 2.8GB on PlayStation 4 (no confirmation of download size for other platforms yet, but it's likely to be similarly meaty).

The version 1.01 update fixes a not insubstantial number of issues found in the game, however, so it's definitely going to be worth your while persevering with the download. The full update notes are as follows, courtesy of the development team:

  • The Medician Department of Nature Conservation has pored over every inch of our beautiful island for cracks and removed them
  • The Medician Department of Motor Vehicles has taken measures to acquire poorly-tuned vehicles and burn them

  • Various level and EQ adjustments
  • Rebels riding along with Rico will now be less rude and not talk over each other
  • Fixed a few rare audio distortion issues involving destructible objects with lots of moving parts
