iOS Snapchatters get new face swap options

Mark O'Beirne

Snapchat's most recent update on iOS will let users face swap with photos on their device in their Camera Roll.

Face swapping has been the trend of the year so far with people taking it upon themselves to see just how far they can push it.

Alongside the usual array of regular face swapped images, users have shared photos of face swaps between themselves and celebrities, photos, and even with a cloud of smoke while vaping. Now, Snapchatters on iOS are getting another tool to play with.

The most recent iOS update lets you face swap with a photo from your camera roll. That should take some of the difficulties of setting up a shot out of the equation. However, the tool will look for photos with recognisable faces, so you may not be able to pull off all of those swaps with inanimate objects that you might have envisioned.

Snapchat’s iOS update also allows users to replay any snap once for free. Its support page notes that users can no longer purchase additional replays for a small fee. Those who still have credit will be able to use it.
