Has Safari been crashing on you? Here's how to fix it

Emma Clark

Some Safari users are finding that the program is crashing on them on a variety of iOS devices. Here are a few workarounds.

iPhone, iPad, and Mac users have been having issues with Safari of late.

In some cases, the program crashes completely, while many people are experiencing significant amounts of slowdown. Others have found that Safari hangs when they click on the search bar.

Apple is yet to provide an official fix or workaround, but there does seem to be a way to overcome it. The issue appears to arise because of Apple’s Safari suggestions function. Users can go to the Settings tab on their Apple device and disable the troublesome suggestions function under Safari.

Alternatively, you can enter private browsing mode in Safari. Or you could just use another browser altogether.

It's been a tough few days for iOS users, some of whom have fallen victim to the "prank" in which they are sent to a website that causes their device to shutdown.
