Google's Live Cases make phone customisation even more personal

Mark O'Beirne

Google has announced a new range of Live Cases for smartphones that will let you personalise your handset more than ever.

It can be difficult for your smartphone to stand out, especially as many cases are more functional than fashionable. But Google wants to change that with new Live Cases for its Nexus handsets.

The Live Cases can either display maps of your favourite place or precious memories that you have stored as a photo. The 'live' element refers to its ability to match your wallpaper to your case. You can either set a slideshow of photos or enable a wallpaper that shows your location, both of which are displayed in the same style as your case.

These cases also feature a pre-programmed shortcut button with some added functionality. Tapping the button, for example, will open up your device's camera, so you can add a new photo to the slideshow, but if you choose a place, Google Maps will open up to show you some places of interest around your location.
