Google Cardboard owners can now snap and relive 3D photos thanks to the release of the Cardboard Camera app, which brings panoramic photos to life.

Google's Cardboard Camera app brings the ability to take 3D photos to its virtual reality headset.

Using the app, your phone can take VR photos, which then enable users to experience them in 3D. The app also records sound, so you get an idea of what it was like when the picture was taken.

You don't necessarily need the Cardboard VR to take panoramic images, but it's a better experience to view them back using a virtual reality headset.

It could make browsing through other people's holiday snaps a more enjoyable and engaging experience at the very least. Meanwhile, your own photos will be enhanced significantly as you get to experience more of them.

Google's Cardboard Camera is now available in 17 languages from the Google Play Store.
