Gears of War 4 season pass costs a whopping €50!
Gears of War 4 is heading for release later in 2016 and the game will also be getting extra post release content for a heft price
Gears of War 4 is coming in October 2016 and there's no doubt plenty of anticipation for the return of these chunky characters dealing out death with guns that have chainsaws attached.
No developers The Coalition and publishers Microsoft have revealed their plans for post release content in the ever familar Season Pass. We're getting pretty used to these being teased long before release now but the big news for Gears of War 4 is the cost, at a massive €50.
That's not far off the cost of an entire retail game, and yet another example of developers massively raising season pass prices over the last few years. So what do you get for that high price? Here's the official line:
"Includes exclusive Vintage VIP Pack featuring Vintage JD and two Vintage weapon skins, permanent access to 24 additional DLC maps (two per month for a year) for private play on dedicated servers, an exclusive Developer Playlist that grants access to new maps, modes, and features that can be tested prior to broad release and six Gear Packs (which unlock character and weapon skins, emblems, equipment and boosts)"
So, some skins, beta access to stuff, maps (which will be available for free anyway) and extra gear. No single player content or new game modes, really just a way to choose what map you want to play on. Right now, this is sounding like one of the most overpriced packs ever released, especially as it will push the total cost of playing Gears of War 4 over €100. Fan reaction has been pretty negative so far, we'll have to wait and see how the game-makers respond.
Gears of War 4 is on Xbox One and PC in October 2016.
