There is a wealth of titles coming out this month. Here are just a few of the highlights this month; unfortunately, Uncharted 4 is delayed until next month.
April was supposed to be the month that Uncharted 4 arrived, but it’s been pushed back until May. Thankfully, there are plenty of games to quell that particular disappointment and keep us distracted. Here are some of our most anticipated titles coming this month.
Quantum Break
Platforms: PC, Xbox One
Release Date: April 5th
Remedy Entertainment is back with another time-bending shooter, though this one is without a slow motion dive. Quantum Break boasts an impressive cast with Aiden Gillen and Shawn Ashmore in prominent roles, a unique gameplay mechanic, and an integrated live action show. You can’t say Remedy didn’t try something new. For more, read our full review.
Dark Souls 3
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: April 12th
If you’re a Dark Souls fan, you know the drill. Kill enemies, collect souls, level up, and take on and vanquish bosses. Oh, and die a lot, of course. Dark Souls 3 looks set to throw even more at players with more on-screen than ever before, as well as some interesting changes to multiplayer and world invasions. Expect to spend a lot of time engrossed in Dark Souls 3’s world.
The Banner Saga 2
Platforms: PC
Release Date: April 19th
The Banner Saga 2 picks up shortly after the events of the original title with your choices and path carrying over and impacting how this story will play out. The Banner Saga 2 introduces new characters and races, refines the combat and choice elements of the series, and a score from Journey composer Austin Wintory. It will be released on PS4 and Xbox One at a later date.
Ratchet & Clank
Platforms: PlayStation 4
Release Date: April 22nd
With an animated feature film coming out this year, it’s a good time to delve into the past and explore the origin story of Ratchet & Clank. Taking elements from the original Ratchet & Clank game as well as the upcoming film, this year’s Ratchet & Clank will serve as the perfect introduction to the dynamic duo and their arsenal of weird and wacky weapons.
Star Fox Zero
Platforms: Wii U
Release Date: April 22nd
Star Fox Zero is in an unusual position whereby it is not a prequel, sequel, or strict remake of the first Star Fox. But like the others in the series, it features Fox, his teammates – Falco, Peppy, and Slippy – and familiar gameplay that sees players piloting the Arwing through various levels, taking down enemies along the way. It will be more welcoming to newcomers and lesser skilled players alike, as there is an optional invincibility feature so that players can get to grips with levels.
