Game of Thrones is back on the air and the Season 6 premiere was torrented more than 1 million times in half a day.

Game of Thrones Season 6 aired in the U.S. on Sunday night and it took just half a day for it to be downloaded a million times.

The series has been the most pirated TV show for years and interest doesn’t seem to be waning. TorrentFreak reports that more than 200,000 people have been actively sharing the episode, so the number of downloads is rapidly increasing.

Around half of those who downloaded the show did so in high-resolution. It’s not just timeliness that matters to those downloading episodes, quality does too.

Season 6’s premiere didn’t manage to break piracy records set by last season’s finale, which was illegally downloaded 1.5 million times in the first eight hours. It went on to be downloaded 14.4 million times on BitTorrent, setting a new record.
